About Peter Collins

Your Independent Candidate for Fylde East

I'm Peter Collins—a lifelong Fylde East resident, parish councillor for over 40 years, and borough councillor for 22. I’ve never been interested in party politics—I’ve always focused on what’s right for our community.

Whether it’s fighting to protect our greenbelt, standing up for Kirkham Baths, or leading efforts to stop BP’s damaging cable route, I’ve consistently put people before politics.

I know Fylde. I’ve lived it, worked in it, and represented it for decades. And I’m standing again because our community deserves someone who listens, speaks up, and gets things done.

My Priorities For You

Stop the Destructive Windfarm Cable Route

  • Oppose BP’s £450m over-budget route that cuts through 600 acres of greenbelt.

  • Promote the smarter, cheaper, alternative Hillhouse–Stanah route I helped develop.

  • Protect rural communities, farmland, and the Fylde coastline from years of disruption.

Save Kirkham Baths

  • Fight for the full restoration and reopening of Kirkham’s much-needed swimming pool.

  • Expose the Conservative neglect that left it to rot and forced costs to spiral.

  • Secure proper funding and a realistic, community-led plan for its future.

Fix Roads and Transport

  • Tackle potholes, congestion, and dangerous crossings across Fylde East.

  • Push for long-overdue infrastructure projects like the Ribble bridge.

  • Improve public transport and safer walking and cycling routes.

Tackle Flooding and Poor Planning

  • Demand tighter planning regulations to prevent developments that increase flood risk.

  • Invest in improved drainage and environmental protections for rural communities.

  • Hold developers accountable and put local needs before profit.

Support Affordable Housing for Local People

  • Push for more 1- and 2-bed homes for young people and downsizers.

  • Oppose unaffordable overdevelopment on greenbelt land.

  • Make housing policy work for Fylde residents, not developers.

Fight for a Fair Local Government Reorganisation

  • Ensure Fylde doesn’t get swallowed up by bigger, urban-led authorities.

  • Demand a structure that protects local voices and rural representation.

  • Keep council tax fair and services focused on our community.

Create Local Jobs and Economic Opportunities

  • Back enterprise zones and attract investment into Fylde's rural and tech economy.

  • Support small businesses, farming, tourism and green industries.

  • Ensure the next generation can live and work in Fylde.

Say No to Fracking, Yes to Smart Energy

  • Maintain firm opposition to fracking in Fylde East.

  • Champion clean energy—done properly, not at the community’s expense.

  • Support sustainable solutions that protect land, health, and livelihoods.
